Dr. Goione Merchant received her Doctor of Audiology Degree from the University of Florida. She received her Masters degree in Audiology from Trenton State College (now The College of New Jersey) and her undergraduate Bachelor of Science degree as a Teacher of the Hearing Impaired/Deaf from Trenton State College (now The College of New Jersey). She holds a New Jersey certification to teach the Hearing Impaired/Deaf and a New Jersey certification to teach the Handicapped. Dr. Goione Merchant taught High School Resource Room prior to enter Audiology and prior to that worked briefly as a sign language interpreter. She has been in private practice since February 1992 at the same location in Brick, NJ.
Prior to opening her private practice, Dr. Goione Merchant worked at Princeton Medical Center. She has also served as clinic coordinator for the Masters level Audiology program at Trenton State College (January 1992 – June 1996). Dr. Goione Merchant is currently the President of the Board for New Jersey Academy of Audiology. She has been an assistant professor and clinical preceptor in the Speech Pathology and Audiology Department at Montclair State University since January 2011.
Dr. Goione Merchant works with both adult and pediatric populations with a specialty in pediatric auditory disorders and extensive diagnostic experience in the areas of childhood hearing loss and central auditory processing disorders. She lectures and provides workshops on topics relating to Hearing Loss, Educational Audiology, Auditory Disorders, and Aural Rehabilitation.
