Special Programs
Aural Rehabilitation The Hearing Health Center provides various classes in the areas of aural rehabilitation. The classes take various communication modalities associated with hearing and build on them to enhance a persons ability to communicate.

Speechreading
More commonly known as Lipreading, this form of aural rehabilitation uses visual cues provided by lip movements, facial expressions, and gestures to enhance the understanding of speech. When combined with amplified hearing, this technique helps the individual use all available cues to understand and participate in conversations.

Sign Language
A manual system of communication that utilizes hand shapes and gestures to talk with others. Sign Language systems have been used by deaf and hearing impaired individuals for centuries. Recently, many hearing impaired individuals have become more interested in learning the systems.

Often referred to as listening therapy/instruction, these individualized and group classes focus on developing and/or enhancing a person’s listening and attention skills. This is most often used with hearing impaired children, and more recently with children with central auditory deficits.

Hearing Aid Orientation
This service is offered with every hearing aid purchased. We encourage family members and friends to join us if they are interested. This is an important part of being a successful hearing aid user.
